Taylor Swift is Taylor Alison Swift. She was born 13 December 1989 in West Reading, Pennsylvania. Swift has been a singer/songwriter from the pop/country genre for the past 20 years. The stories she tells of her young love and heartbreak has earned her the acclaim of many throughout the 21st century. Swift first showed an enthusiasm for the industry of music from a very young age. Her career progressed rapidly starting with children's roles to her first public appearance in front of a large crowd. Swift was only 11 when she performed The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers Basketball game. In the following year, she began writing songs and began playing guitar. Swift wrote original songs which was influenced by popular country performers like Shania Twain (now known as the Chicks) and Dixie Chicks. Her material expresses her life as young and a teenager. Swift's family moved in Tennessee Pennsylvania when she was 13, so that she would have more time pursuing records from country music in Nashville.
